MOORING PLANS

OTS can prepare detailed Mooring Plans utilizing the National Institute of Building Sciences Construction Criteria Base Standards (100 year Catastrophic event) as a baseline to properly create a safe and effective Plan with the utmost safety in mind for your vessel and waterfront docking facility.

TRIP - IN - TOW SURVEY

This type survey is performed to ensure proper towing jewelry and tug(s) that will be utilized for the tow of the barge or vessel in question. This survey addresses the items needing attention by the owner to properly prepare his vessel to be towed such as trim, ballast options, tow bridles make-ups, assurances of deck hardware condition, stability, and securing of gear below. This type of survey is usually called for by the insurance underwriter and/or the U.S. Coast Guard on specific type tows and is paid for by the owner of the towed vessel. Our criteria for this type of survey is the conservative U.S. Navy Towing Manual and OTS's experience as towing vessel operators.

TOW PLANS

This type of survey outlines the itinerary, type of vessel towed, towing vessel, towing equipment and equipment coefficients, weather restrictions, insurance requirements and coverage, party contact information and amounts of oil and/or hazardous materials aboard.

ON/OFF HIRE SURVEYS

This type of survey is performed for either the owner or party wishing to lease a commercial vessel or barge. This survey is comprehensive inspection of the current condition of the vessel at the time of survey.

NEW VESSEL CONSTRUCTION, VESSEL REFIT & DAMAGE INVESTIGATIONS

Consulting on New Vessel Construction, Vessel Refit., and Damage Investigations. His services provide expert opinion on the quality of necessary repairs, the installation of systems and equipment, and the extent of on-board damage.

SHIPYARD/YACHTYARD PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Preparation of Shipyard/Yachtyard Specification Packages and RFPs. OTS can design a Shipyard/Yachtyard Specification Package tailored to your vessel's needs; from hull preparation, machinery upgrades and repairs, sandblasting/fairing and detailed paint specifications to custom installations of electronics and working gear.

EXPERT/PROFESSIONAL WITNESS

Expert/Professional Witness Testimony, Admiralty Investigations Support, and Insurance Arbitration. OTS has expert background in providing expert witness services in pre-litigate and litigation situations and is qualified in Federal Court as a 'Marine Surveyor'. OTS can assist vessel owners, builders, attorneys, and underwriters. Such testimony is factual, effective, and beneficial to all concerned.

PREPARATION OF NAVAL MUSEUM SHIP APPLICATIONS

OTS can prepare the documentation necessary for a successful application to the U.S. Navy on behalf of your Non-Profit (501 C-3) Organization seeking ex-U.S. Navy Vessels for museum settings. We are experienced in working with the U.S. Navy Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Ship Donation Program (PMS 333) in a variety of tasks needed to submit this comprehensive

MOTION PICTURES

OTS has had extensive experience within the motion picture industry. OTS was consulted to charter the extra merchant ship in the movie 'Thirteen Days'. OTS was also charged with conducting a structural survey of the destroyer U.S.S. JOSEPH P. KENNEDY and preparing a Tow Plan for this vessel for the duration of the production. OTS served as a technical consultant in the movie production of 'PROUDLY WE SERVED'.
